Does MLM trigger you?

Why do you think people are triggered by multilevel marketing?

I certainly have a couple hunches.

Personally I think we’ve all been on the receiving end of the “Hey girl hey!” message which is absolutely off putting in and of itself. But I think it’s more than that.

I think our world view of multilevel marketing is that its a pyramid scheme. And, I get it because I had my views of sort.

But what about it really makes you roll your eyes?

In this day and age there are some really awesome companies out there who help women stay home with their kids and create income for their family.

Are you really the type of person who judges that sort of thing?

I was. I did. Until I found a product that was only available in this way. It made me have to ask myself these same questions.

Why do I actually have a problem with this structure?

I didn’t have a good answer. And I undoubtably wanted to use the products. So the more I dug deeper into the company and my own fearful and judgmental thoughts I had to call bullshit on myself. Who cares? Really, who cares that it's MLM? Only small minded people. Am I small minded? No. Which means I don’t care. At least in that way. And, now I see. I see that MLM isn’t bad at all.

Are some companies better than others? Hell yeah.

Are some products better than others? A double hell yeah.

The thing is we as a culture need to wake up to the fact that just because a company chooses the MLM model doesn’t make them less than. In fact, it makes them more than. More than a tether to a desk, more than a boss’s evaluation of your value, and more than the average opportunity to make a life.

But I’m not here to change your mind. I know only those who are ready to see will. And for many, like myself, they won’t see until they come across a product they actually want. That is how it all shifts. ✨
