"I have never received a harsh piece of criticism from anyone I respect." - Marie Forleo
Hallelujah, praise the Lord. Does this woman bring the HEAT or what?
I so get this. And, I absolutely adore her as a human and business creative.
Marie goes on to explain that those she has any admiration for have always given her feedback constructively and in private. Another high five from me.
With a world full of feedback, we have to see sources through a lens of discernment. Is this for me? Or should I throw it to the fishes?
I absolutely believe you have to be your own gate keeper, encourager and boundary maker.
In fact, Elizabeth Gilbert spoke of sacredness and boundary making in quite a profound way recently. It sent a shimmy up my spine igniting my internal knowing. Yes. We simply decide what is sacred to us and we create the boundary to confirm it.
Therefore, I am Sacred.
Say it with me.
I am Sacred.
One more time.
I am Sacred.
The truth is opinions are skewed with understanding. No one really knows someone else's Spirit or intuition. Thats why we have to stay true to what is best for us. And keep in mind, those who do have our best interest at heart will give us feedback in a way to facilitate our bloom. Anything outside of that can be considered manure which we graciously grow from without getting all stunk up by its negative stanky stank.
Listen, let me put it to you this way. My step-grandma always said, "Opinions are like assholes. Everyone's got em, but you'd be wise to mind your own."
And, I just about fell out of my chair when I heard Jersey Marie say pretty much the same thing! Talk about HEAT! Bada bing, bada boom.
You know - they are both right.
Trust what's on your heart.
Follow what lights you up.
And remember you are sacred.
Do your best to let go of the rest.
Marie reminds us that we are only here for a short time and we've got to give the world what we've got. Ain't nobody YOU baby.
If you agree, but aren't sure how to harness that innate power, I'd say grab Marie's book, Everything Is Figureoutable. As a B- Schooler I knew early on I had to have a copy, and now that I've listened to it I know you'll love it too. She launched it in September and it hit the NY Times Best Sellers right away, for good reason.
Look her up.
All my love <3
